Keeping Up With the Interior Trends: 2019

Want to know what’s hot and what’s not for next year? Well, you’re in luck because we’ve compiled a list of the hottest interior trends for 2019. Just don’t forget… you heard it here first with Stay and Escape!

Sustainability

Protecting the planet and being kind to mother nature is always top of our list, which is why we’re super excited about this trend. Work recycled materials, upcycle old furniture and alter soft furnishings. When it comes to purchasing homewares, shop close to home, source local designers and sift through eBay for second-hand goodies and you’ll be bang on trend.

Patterns Out of Sort

This is all about mixing the old and the new. Create an ultra-modern fusion with classic backdrops and vintage patterns against contemporary furnishings. Think Pride and Prejudice for the wall, Star Trek for the couch.

Brassed Off

If you’re sick to the back teeth of seeing brass then this chrome trend will get you smiling. Set it alongside burgundies, purples and smokey grey undertones for a 70s-inspired colour scheme – groovy man!

New Partners in Crime: Orange and Yellow

In 2019, orange and yellow are going to be closer than Morecambe and Wise. This fruitful trend will add light, happiness and fun into any kind of space. So what are you waiting for? Get ready to embrace this pairing and don’t just leave it for the fruit bowl.

Art Deco

Art Deco is in and out more than Jack-In-A-Box. This time though, it’s got a sweet millennial twist. Geometric patterns are in soft neutrals, velvet sofas are used as accents and flecks of gold add the sparkle.

Shapeshifters

When it comes to furniture, it’s about to look like it’s never looked before. Prepare to throw traditional shapes out the window and get ready to embrace the curves with odd corners, hidden storage compartments and oversized cushions. From what we’ve seen, it’ll be easy as pie to love every single lump and bump.

The New Nordic

The Scandinavian lifestyle is totally desirable, which is why we’ve embraced the ‘New Nordic’ with our arms wide open. For 2019, it’s all about sleek furnishings with beautiful tonal qualities – Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie!

Get Ready to See Some Pastels

In 2019, pretty pastels are set to replace neutral tones. Without being garish, pastels are the ideal way to add a splash of colour. Keep it updated with mint green, light grey and the year’s ‘new black’, peachy coral.

Embrace some Velvet

You might think velvet belongs in the winter, but it’s fabulous in the summer too. This ornate material can add a touch of luxury and is way more adaptable than it seems. Just pick your velvet colours wisely, no one wants to go full Austin Powers in the bedroom..or do they baby?!
